Movement Prototype Ready

Got a prototype for the project I'll be making first

Physics Body Rolling Movement Prototype

I'm putting the spaceship aside for now, and focusing on a project I can bring to market sooner.

A 3D precision platformer with an obstacle course. I have a theme and name planned, but I wont share it until I have a demo ready.

Currently this is just a prototype, I spent Friday night and all Saturday morning putting this together and tunning it to where it feels good.

It is a rolling rigid body with a stabilized character in the center, like a hamster ball. But... there is also a jetpack!

A jetpack that I have greatly nerfed otherwise it would be used to skip the whole map and it became more of a short timed hover.

But it can still cause trouble I was able to get a lot of height by building up momentum up a ramp and them dumping the whole jetpack fuel into the, the forces add up a lot.

Might have to revisit that.

I also wanted an energy shield look to it, but then you wouldn't be able to tell you were inside a rolling ball, so I added some noise and the two rings.

What's next

Now my focus will shift towards learning more about level design on Godot, I feel I got the basics down after this two weeks of watching tutorials and tinkering.

But as I built this test map I realized how much trouble I'm going to get in if I don't learn to handle my assets properly, and position the modular ones correctly.

After I have two full obstable maps, I will then work on the main character, the current plan is to use a ragdoll inside this sphere, I think it would make for some interesting visuals.

Also, I just released this website under the studio name NGL! Finally decided on the name.

Talk soon,

Nico.
