First post and what I'm working on

Getting into gamedev

I have tried to do some gamedev in the past but never relly committed to it. Recently I decided it would be a good way of building something interesting and learning more about games in general.

With a full-time job my time committment is a lot shorter, however I really want to finish at least one game. I have been setting up some files about the project I want to build, a space themed roguelike with a cool final boss battle.

It does feel ambitious and I'm sure I'll cut some things from it as I go, but the scope has been defined. Should be plenty of work for one developer, but with the help of some tools I'm sure I'll get really far into it.

I'll post more once there is something to share, right now, I'm just starting to learn the Godot engine, and figuring out how I'm going to deal with the art. My background is all in software engineering, so the code should be the "easy" part, of course I'll be learning a lot about developing game features, this is a lot different from the kind of software I'm used to building.
